Rights organisations declare start to work to contribute to process 2025-06-27 16:26:54   RIHA – Riha (Urfa) Bar Association, Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) and Human Rights Association (IHD) Riha Branches have declared that they have started field work, panel discussions, meetings and reporting processes in order to contribute to the process of confrontation, recognition of rights and development of reform proposals.    Riha Bar Association Chair Abdullah Öncel made a statement at the meeting held at the Bar Association and he stated that the process is of vital importance. Öncel said: "As Urfa Bar Association, we would like to announce that we have started our work in our city in order to ensure social peace, confront the past, pave the way for change and transformation with the contributions of ÖHD, IHD Urfa branch."   “We declare that we will fulfil our responsibility by deciding to initiate field studies, rights-based meetings, panels, and reporting processes in order to reveal the legal, social and historical dimensions of the problem, to ensure the rule of law, the establishment of justice and social confrontation as a prerequisite for a lasting peace, to recognise fundamental rights and to develop structural reform proposals,” Öncel said.    REPORT TO BE PREPARED   Öncel stated that they will meet with official institutions, political parties, non-governmental organisations and democratic mass organisations and announce the democratic reform proposals needed at the legal and constitutional level with the comprehensive report they will prepare and said: "As a part of this comprehensive study, we reiterate our call for all public opinion to embrace the process, for political parties to fulfil their roles and missions, for civil society institutions and democratic mass organisations to take an active role in this process and for everyone to assume their role in the construction of peace."
