Journalist Aziz Köylüoğlu murdered 2025-02-08 10:52:46 NEWS CENTER - Journalist Aziz Köylüoğlu murdered in Turkey's attack on Ranya. Another journalist murdered as a result of Turkey's attacks. Journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin were killed in Turkey's drone attack against North and East Syria on 19 December 2024.   It was announced that journalist Aziz Köylüoğlu was also killed in Turkey's attack. In the statement of YRD General Coordination released by ANF, it was stated that journalist Aziz Köylüoğlu lost his life in the attack carried out by Turkey on 27 January in Ranya district of Silêmaniyê.   The statement described the attack as "cowardly". The statement said that Köylüoğlu was born in Amed (Diyarakır) in 1976, started his career at Free Press in the early 2000s and worked in all areas of the press from reporter-cameraman to editor, news director to editor-in-chief.    It was stated that Köylüoğlu worked as a journalist from Hêwler to Silêmaniyê, from Kirkuk to Mexmûr, from Derik to Efrîn in North and East Syria.   "Of course, comrade Aziz's pen will not remain on the ground, his voice and words will echo more loudly," the statement emphasised and reads, "The tradition of free press, which takes its source from the oppressed, expatriates and Apê Musa, and continues its way with Seyit, Karwan, Rosîda, Gulistan, Hero, Nazım and Cihan, has been further strengthened with the martyrdom of our comrade Aziz, and the invincibility of this tradition has been proven once again."
