URFA - It was learned that 5 more prisoner will join the hunger strike that has been ongoing in Urfa Prison against the violations of rights.

 

5 more prisoners will join the unlimited non-rotating hunger-strike in Urfa Type T Prison that has been declared due to to violations of rights. It was learned that the prisoners plan to declare the hunger strike by July 4. 

 

PRISONER MANAGEMENT REFUSES TO MEET WITH THE PRISONERS

 

Kasım Karataş, a prisoner in Urfa Prison, talked with his daughter Gülistan Karataş on the weekly phone call and reported that the prisoner management does not accept to meet with the prisoners regarding their demands and the number of the hunger strike resisters in the prison would increase in case the demands are not met. 

 

As Karataş said, 5 prisoners named Hidayet Düger, Hıdır Demirtaş, Erkan Bayram, Mehmet Tahir Özcan and Reber Varhan will join the hunger strike by Saturday.

 

WHEN DID THE HUNGER STRIKE BEGIN IN URFA PRISON?

 

The prisoners in Urfa Prison, named İlyas Yeşilçayır, Ahmet Sabaç, Emrullah Oruç, Serhat Bulut and Bahtiyar Aygün have declared an unlimited non-rotating hunger-strike on June 24. 

 

DEMANDS OF THE PRISONERS

 

Prisoners demands are as follows: The water problem to be solved, the ill prisoners to be medically treated, the naked search practice to be ended, the ward searches that are made 2 times a week to be ended, the counting of the prisoners day and night by the crowded guardian teams not to be done anymore, the hygene materials to be distributed to the prisoners, to re-schedule the visit hours and to get back their rights of sport, right to join the atelier activities and right to chat with other prisoners.
