Çiğdem Şenyiğit, who was taken into custody in İzmir on January 15, 2017 on the grounds of "membership of an illegal organization" because she participated in a press release regarding the Soma Massacre, was arrested by the court. Şenyiğit who was firts accused of 'membership of an illegal organization', was later accused of 'propaganda' in her first hearing by the İzmir 5th High Criminal Court and was released on October 12, 2017. Şenyiğit who was detained once again the day she was released with the statement of a witness B.E, was referred to İstanbul 29th High Criminal Court. Being held in prison for almost a year and a half, Şenyiğit was released and was sentenced to house arrest on March 28, 2019. Şenyiğit was once again arrested on November 4, 2019 on grounds that she violated the judicial control measures and sent to Silivri Prison.

 

Mother Zekiye Şenyiğit who stated that her daugther was gray listed by the Ministry of Interrior following her arrest, said the news about her daughter in the media did not reflect the truth. Mother Şenyiğit said: "They wrote some news about my daughther as if she was captured in a cell house, preparing for action. It was a lie. She was captured in Kartal Square. The press lied. They told that she was a gray listed terrorist. They told that she will never be released as long as her name is on that list. I want her name to be removed from that list and I want mu daugther to be released. I want to be heard. 

 

Mother Şenyiğit called for participation for the next hearing of her daugther to be held on September 25.
