İSTANBUL - Stating that the resistance against the appointed rector Melih Bulu is legitimate İstanbul MP Ahmet Şık said: "These students are bringing this country back to life."

An investigation has been launched against Istanbul MP Ahmet Şık, who has been supporting the protests that have been going on for more than a month against the appointment of a trustee rector to Boğaziçi University, on charges of "public incitement to commit a crime". Şık made evaluations about the appointment of the trustee rector and the ongoing protest actions against it.

Drawing attention to the similarity between the seizure of HDP municipalities and a rector being appointed to a university, Şık said that the trustee regime ignores the will of the people. Şık said: "If it does not work for your interest, you sieze the municipalities run by democratically elected mayors, you take over the management of non- governmental organizations and appoint rectors to universities. This struggle of the students lift my spirit. I want to thank all those young people for keeping the hope alive. Bless your hearts. They are bringing this country back to life. I am deeply grateful to them for this."

SOCIAL LEGITIMACY

Expressing that the struggle of the students against the appointed rector is ligitimate, Şık said the government is trying to silence this resistance with oppression, cruelty and violence. Şık emphasized that the resistance should be continued with determination and said: “This resistance is trying to tell us something, rights are claimed, not presented on a silver plate. They say you have to be courageous to fight against fascism, and they say, never give up. Our duty is to continue to speak our minds with courage. We have the courage that scares the bullies the most."

INVESTIGATION

Speaking about the investigation launched against him, Şık said: "Turkey is in the hands of a mafia posing as a political party. You can not fight a legal system that accepted to be the hitman of this mafia. You can fight with a universal judicial system that takes universal rights norms as reference to fundamental rights and freedoms. This investigation proves my point. If they think we will be intimidated by this they are very wrong."

Adding that the resistance of the students will find its place in the heroic pages of history, Şık noted that the united struggle grounds are the dominant power to challenge the existing darkness. Şık who thinks that a focus should be built in which people can trust, said that he supports the resistance of the youth to the end.
