VAN - In the autopsy report of Ramazan Akbaşlı who allegedly has committed suicide in Van Type F Closed Prison, it was seen that he did not have ligature marks on his neck even though he was told to have hung himself while he had bruises all over his body. A relative of Akbaşlı said he was threatened by some people in prison who told that they were intelligence officers.

Ramazan Akbaşlı (55), who has been detained in Van F-Type Closed Prison since 19 November 2020 on the allegation of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and alleged to have committed suicide on February 22, was taken to Van Yüzüncü Yıl Dursun Odabaşı Medical Center Hospital with the claim that he hung himself and lost his life 2 days later. While Akbaşlı's "dead examination and autopsy report" was being prepared, the family applied to the Human Rights Association (İHD) Van Branch for "legal and humanitarian assistance".

ECMOSIS AND BLEEDING IN THE BODY

According to the authopsy report, Akbaşlı had bruises all over his body and ecmosis on both lips as well as punctate bleeding on the right lower part of the chest. The report, which stated that there were purple and brown ecchymoses on the side of the chest also revealed that  there was 12x4cm blue-green ecchymosis in the left armpit anterior region and shoulder, and there were green ecchymoses in patches on the front of the chest. Numerous vesicular skin lesions were seen in the upper left outer part.Millimetric skin lesions were observed in the coccyx area.

In the report that drew attention to the fact that he did not have ligature marks on his neck even though he was claimed to have hung himself, it was stated that that there were bleeding in the subcutaneous and soft tissues of the chest, more on the left, and there was a hemorrhagic fracture at the 4-5 rib level of the sternum.

FAMILY APPLIED TO IHD: HE WAS MURDERED

Family of Akbaşlı applied to Human's Rights Association on grounds that his life to right was violated. Akbaşlı's wife said: "They put him in prison even though he was not guilty and killed him. The bruises on his body proves that he was tortured. My husband would never commit suicide. He was murdered."

Another relative of Akbaşlı who did not reveal their name said the police officer who raided their home threatened them and told that they would arrest Akbaşlı. The same relative told that Akbaşlı was approached twice in prison by men claiming that they work for the intelligence agency.
