6 women arrested in Rosa Women's Association operation

DİYARBAKIR - Detained in Diyarbakır, six of 24 women have been arrested for “being members of an organization”, nine women released on probation, one woman placed under house arrest and the detention period of eight women has been extended.

 
Of the 16 women who were taken into custody in Turkey's Kurdish-majority southeastern province of Diyarbakır on April 5, six women have been arrested, nine women have been released on probation and one woman has been placed under house arrest. Eight women will remain in custody for 48 more hours as their detention period has been extended.
 
Taken into custody in Diyarbakır on Monday, 16 of 24 women were referred to the courthouse yesterday afternoon (April 8). Giving their statements at the prosecutor's office, the following women were referred to the court:
 
Socialist Women's Assembly (SKM) Central Executive Committee member Satiye Ok, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP Remziye Tosun's press advisor Gurbet Özel, HDP MP Dersim Dağ's former advisor Leyla Akgül, Hasibe Akçay, Peace Mother Nezahat Teke, Jinnews reporter Beritan Canözer, Ayşen Kanuş, MED-DER Co-Chair Şilan Elmas Kan, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Central Executive Committee member Zeynep Üren, Diyarbakır Women's Academy member Figen Aras, Nurşen Akbal and Şehriban Zuğurli, TJA activist Sevim Biçici, Eylem Ceylan and Nalan Özen, Hayat Akyol.
 
WOMEN ARRESTED BY COURT 
 
The Diyarbakır Penal Judgeship of Peace on Duty has ruled that SKM Central Executive Committee members Satiye Ok, HDP MP Dersim Dağ's former advisor Leyla Akgül, Ayşen Kanuş, Diyarbakır Women's Academy member Figen Aras, Nurşen Akbal and Şehriban Zuğurli shall be arrested on charge of "being members of an organization."
 
JUDICIAL CONTROL AND HOUSE ARREST
 
While Zeynep Üren, Eylem Ceylan, Sevim Biçici, Beritan Canözer, Gurbet Özel, Şilan Elmas Kan, Nalan Özen and Hasibe Akçay have been released on probation, Nezahat Teke has been placed under house arrest.
 
8 WOMEN'S DETENTION PERIOD WAS EXTENDED
