DİYARBAKIR - Stating that Turkey trying to make itself perpetuate in the region with the recent military operations, HDP MP İmam Taşçıer said the operation which he refers to as 'invasion' can be stopped with national unity.

The military operation launched by the Turkish Armed Forces (TKS) on April 23 against the Zap, Metina and Avaşîn regions in the Iraqi Federated Kurdistan Region continues. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP İmam Taşçıer, who evaluated the operation that has entered its 20th day, said that Turkey aims to be permanent in the region with the last operation. Taşçıer noted that Turkey has carried out such operations for 40 years, but aims to be permanent in the region with the last operation.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE OPERATION

Pointing out that paramilitary forces called the Free Syrian Army (FSA) under the control of Turkey are also involved in the operation, Taşçıer said, "The operation aims to reach the goals of the National Pact's borders. Their purpose is to occupy the territory of Southern Kurdistan and reach the National Pact targets including Shengal, Mosul, Kirkuk, Erbil and Slemani. This is not an easy objective. This operation is not against some organizations challenging them. This is an operation against the Kurds. A similar operation was carried out in Rojava. Now it is South Kurdistan. They aim to settle in region with these operations. They will move even further in after they settle in these cities. This is their dream of pan-turanism. But can these dreams be made true? Never. Because the Kurds will never allow this."

UNITY AGAINST THE OPERATION

Underlining that these operations can be carried out through that missing 128 billion dolars, Taşçıer emphasized that these operations can be stopped with national unity. Taşçıer added: "It started with Efrin, Serekaniya and Grê Spi. Now they are trying to invade Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn. These operations have spiralled beyond it's purpose. And they won't stop after invading Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn. Turkey is attacking from all sides to stop the Kurds from getting their status. National unity is now a must for the Kurds. Kurds can achieve the free life through national unity. Every Kurd has to stand against these operations." Adding that Saddam Hussein used the same pretext and told his war was against the Peshmerga, Taşçıer asked, "But really, was that war against the Peshmerga, or was it against the Kurds. Now they say their operations are against the PKK. They are doing the same thing but the Kurdish question can not be solved through operations and military means. Saddam Hussein could not succeed. And it will not lead to success now. The Kurdish question can only be solved through democratic means. The government knows this. They will lose the first election. These operations need to strengthen national unity. All parties, personalities and organizations need to unite against these operations. They need to learn from these operations for national unity. All parties should see this threat. The attack on Southern Kurdistan is an attack on all four sides of Kurdistan."
