NEWS CENTER - Condemning the murder of Nagihan Akarsel, a member of the Jineology Research Center, the women reminded the assassinations that were carried out before and said, "We know the mentality that did this."

 

Nagihan Akarsel, a member of Jineology Research Center, editor of Jineology Journal, journalist, writer, academic, was killed in an armed attack in front of her house in Slemani in the Federated Kurdistan Region today.

 

Women's organizations, journalists and politicians condemned the attack on social media.

 

TJA: TURKISH STATE MURDERED NAGİHAN

 

The Free Women's Movement (TJA) made a statement and said, “Our comrade #NagihanAkarsel, who has been fighting for years to illuminate the lost female wisdom and bring the truth to the surface, was murdered by the Turkish state in Slemani. You cannot silence the pen of the truth!”

 

HDK WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY: WE PROMISE TO CONTINUE THE STRUGGLE

 

Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Women's Assemblies condemned the murder of Akarsel and said, "Nagihan Akarsel, a member of Jineology Research Center and editor of Jineology magazine, who worked endlessly for the women's freedom struggle, was killed as a result of an armed attack in Slemani. We condemn the attack and promise to raise the freedom struggle of women and solidarity!”

Reminding that Akarsel is one of the organizers of the women's conference, Women Weaving Future said, "We condemn this despicable attack and promise to raise our struggle!"

 

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chairperson Tayip Temel showed his reaction to Akarsel's murder with the words "We condemn the cowardly attack".

HDP MP and Socialist Assemblies Federation (SMF) Spokesperson Dilşat Canbaz said: “Recently, such murders in the Kurdistan region bear the fingerprints of AKP-MHP fascism and its accomplices in the region.”

 

DBP WOMEN'S COUNCIL: WE KNOW THE MENTALITY

 

Siya Ayhan Akgül, a member of the Women's Council of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), said, "The murder of Nagihan Akarsel is an assassination made against the hierarchical fascist power system, which is the product of the male mind, against the values of women based on their own power. We know the mentality that did this."
