ANKARA - Those who lost their lives in the Ankara Station Massacre were commemorated at the place where they were murdered. Zöhre Tedik, mother of Korkmaz Tedik who lost his life in the massacre, said that they will fight until the last drop of their blood.

104 people lost their lives in the ISIS attack on the "Peace and democracy" rally held in Ankara on October 10, 2015 at the Gar Square. HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar, Emek Party (EMEP) Chairperson Ercüment Akdeniz, TİP MP Ahmet Şık, CHP and HDP MPs, Turkish Medical Association (TTB), Public The Confederation of Workers' Unions (KESK), the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) and the Revolutionary Workers' Unions Confederation (DISK), as well as the families who lost their lives in the massacre attended to the commemoration held by the October 10 Peace and Solidarity Association on the 7th anniversary of the massacre.

POLICE ATTACK

Before the commemoration, all the roads leading to the Gar Square, where the massacre took place, were blockaded by the police. The crowd trying to enter the area from Tandoğan Square and journalists were tried to be prevented by the police. The police said that they will not be allowed to enter the area, except for family members. The police tried to keep many people, including journalists, away from the area by using violence. Meanwhile, many protesters were detained.

FAMILIES MARCHED WITH BANNER

Families who lost their relatives in the massacre marched in front of Ankara Train Station with a banner with photographs of the massacred. Families and the wounded shouted the slogans such as "October 10 should not be forgotten", "The murderers will give an account to the people for the massacre", "Shoulder to shoulder against fascism" and "Murderer ISIS collaborative AKP".

THE NAMES OF PEOPLE WHO KILLED WERE READ

After the names of those killed in the attack were read and the slogan of "They are alive", a moment of silence was held at 10:04 when the massacre took place.

'WE RAISE A VOICE AGAINST INJUSTICE'

Speaking at the commemoration of the seventh anniversary of the massacre, October 10 Peace and Solidarity Association President Mehtap Sakinci said: “Every year we make this commemoration by making efforts to respect our pain. We will continue to call for justice until the real killers are prosecuted. The police were openly discriminated against at the point of decision to commemorate. The police intervened in the commemoration, there were nearly twenty detentions. We raise a voice against injustice. We also say that if justice is not served for the Ankara massacre, justice will not be served for anyone.”

‘THE POLITICIANS OF THE PERIOD ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MASSACRE’

Reminding the policy of the government between June 7 and November 1, KESK Co-chair Şükran Kablan Yeşil said:"The barbarians fed in Turkey planned an attack on those who were fighting for democracy. Those who did not speak at that time, who prepared the ground for this massacre, are not just the suspects who are fugitives today or those who are under arrest and also those responsible for the massacre are  the politicians of that period, and we will continue our struggle until they are put on trial.”

KORKMAZ TEDİK'S MOTHER: WE WILL HOLD THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MASSACRE TO ACCOUNT

Zöhre Tedik, mother of Korkmaz Tedik who lost his life in the massacre, said: “This system, which is afraid of us coming to the area, will collapse. Those who detonated two bombs in this square are also those who did not put us in this square. When I said that I am Korkmaz's mother, the police searched more. They do not take us to the area so that the massacre will not be accounted for. It's like I'm going to bring the bomb to the area. We promise our 104 lives, these squares will be filled until we hold the killers to account. These squares will be filled until the murderers are held to account. We will fight until the last drop of our blood.”

'GOVERNMENT MADE AN EFFORT TO OBSCURE THE MASSACRE'

Stating that 7 years have passed since the massacre, TMMOB President Emin Koramaz said: “Neither the massacre was held to account, nor the state forces behind it were revealed. State forces are making extraordinary efforts to obscure this event and to hide the forces. They do not allow us to commemorate our comrades we have lost. October 10 is a crime against labor, peace and freedom, the highest value of humanity. Long live our struggle for labor, freedom, peace, democracy and the brotherhood of peoples."

CARNATIONS HAVE BEEN LEFT

After the speeches, the commemoration ended with carnations left on the representative monument in the Station Square. Families once again pledged to fight while they were touching their children's photos.
