111 detained in protests against Turkey's use of chemical weapons

ANKARA - During the protests in İstanbul and Silopi against Turkey's use of chemical weapons, 80 people were detained in İstanbul while 31 were detained in Silopi.

A rally has been held against Turkey's use of chemical weapons Tilqebîn town of Silopi district of Şırnak under the leadership of Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Free Women's Movement (TJA), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Peace Mothers Assembly, Federation of Legal Solidarity Associations with the Families of Detainees and Convicts (MED TUHAD-FED), , Solidarity and Culture with Families Who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations (MEBYA-DER), Mesopotamia Cultural Center (MKM), Migration Platform and Mesopotamia Ecology Movement, while another rally was held in İstanbul under the leadership of Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and United Struggle Union (BMG).

SİLOPİ

The soldiers who attacked the rally in Silopi detained 31 people, including politicians and union members. The names of those detained are as follows: Aziz Aksin, Tevfik Çetin, Hoşyar Sarıyıldız, Ahmet Binay, Beytocan Kırıcı, Kemal Baran, Mustafa Bozan, Ebru Yalçın, İsmail Tokkan, Rojevan Yılmaz, Salih Doğan, Mahmut Ulus, Gurbet Bozyiğit, Ömer Balıcak, Cahide Udum, Sümeyye Kırıcı, Zozan Kaplan, Mehmet Emin Özer, Hogir Çetik, Aydın Aslan, Mehmet Abuzeytinoğlu, Yunus Kılıç, Hasan Yıldız, Şehmus İke, Sebahattin Genco, Hüseyin Akdoğan, Şefik Enüşekin, Ecevit Ceylancı, Ertem Karakuş, Maşallah Erbey and Rodi whose last name could not be obtained.

İSTANBUL

Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and United Union of Struggle (BMG) protested Turkey's use of chemical weapons  in Zap, Avaşîn and Metina with the cooperation of the KDP. Police attacked the protests, detaining scores of people.

As a result of the police attacking the crowd that was marching against the HDP Provincial Organization, Peace Mothers, their relatives, as well as many politicians and citizens were detained handcuffed behind their backs. At least 80 were detained. Detainees were taken to the Provincial Security Directorate on Vatan Street.
