MALATYA- The execution of Erdal Tuncel, who was re-arrested from a different file on the day of his release decision, was postponed 3 times on the grounds that he "used water and electricity too much".

 

Erdal Tuncel (42), who is the brother of the former Co-Chair of the Detained Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Sebahat Tuncel, is not released even though he has completed his 13-and-a-half-year prison sentence. Tuncel was arrested in Êlih on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization" in 2008 and a warrant was issued for his release after 2 and a half years of detention. .

 

THE EXECUTION OF PRISONERS WAS PREVENTED 3 TIMES

 

Tuncel, who is being held in Bolu Type F Closed Prison, completed the execution of his final prison sentence on March 16; however, this time Tuncel's release was caught by the reports prepared by the Prison Administration and Observation Board. Tuncel's execution was postponed 3 times, 3 months each, due to the reasons in the board's reports that "he did not leave his friends, he used water and electricity too much".

Stating that his son is held as a "hostage", Fahrettin Tuncel (68) said: "Since there is no legal situation that requires him to be detained. The extension of the detention of Erdal and other prisoners takes place with an instruction. In addition, they develop a special attitude because of Sabahat as many prisoners were released after their detention was postponed 2 times but Erdal will go to the 4th evaluation. The board's decisions are implemented as a 'special policy for Kurdish prisoners'. This is why people are driven to suicide. There are unexplained deaths, like he fell in the bathroom, hit his head wall. They put people in psychological depression. We just want it to comply with the requirements of the law. Those who have been sentenced should be released."
