MARDİN - 87-year-old Sekvan Mutlu, who lost his life while one of his children was fighting in Cizîr, one in Zap and another in Amudê, condemned the chemical attacks of Turkey and said: "All I want is for this persecution to end and we succeed. our martyrs died for our freedom."

While the policies of denial and annihilation towards the Kurds continue both physically, culturally and politically, there is a Kurdish reality that resists for its existence in the face of these policies. 87-year-old Sekvan Mutlu is a Kurd born into this reality. Sekvan Mutlu's life began in Gercüş district of Êlih. Mutlu spent his life in the Zivingê village of Nusaybin fighting against oppression since he was 15 years old. Having witnessed many events from village evacuation to executions, Mutlu was forced to migrate to the Bamide village of Nisêbîn when her villages were forcibly evacuated in the 1990s. Mutlu, who can return to the village after the 2000s after living a life of immigration for many years, insists on living on his own land despite the endless military operations.

A DILXWAZ FOR EVERY PART OF KURDISTAN

Sekvan Mutlu raised his children with a consciousness that is free and connected to his land. Mutlu's three children chose the freedom struggle. His son Abdullah (Dilxwaz Agir) joined the PKK in 2011. Abdullah, who moved to the Cizîr district of Şirnak to join the self-government resistances that started in 2016, lost his life in a conflict there. His daughter Songül (Eylem Dilxwaz) joined the PKK in 2014. She lost her life in Avaşîn in November 2020 during the attacks launched by Turkey against the Federated Kurdistan Region. His son Osman took the name of his brothers and went to Northern and Eastern Syria under the name Dilxwaz Agir and took his place in the freedom struggle. Osman Mutlu was also killed in the air attack carried out by Turkey on the city of Amude on December 3.

Stating that he never saw his children after their participation, Sekvan Mutlu said: "I could only lay to rest my son Abdullah in Nisêbîn. My daughter Songül was lay to rest in Avaşîn and Osman in Amude. I am the father of 3 martyrs. Why is this persecution always for us? What is our fault? One thing I know is that we are Kurds. It all stems from our Kurdishness. So much persecution is inflicted on us because we say we are Kurds. There are Turks, there are Arabs, is our name alone forbidden? Our people were forced to go to Europe because of the pressures. There were those who died in the seas and those who died on the roads."

MUTLU CONDEMNED THE USE OF CHEMICAL WEAPONS

Condemned the use of weapons against the HPG in Zap, Avaşîn and Metina regions, Mutlu said: “Turkish state says chemical weapons are prohibited. It says they have laws, but we see that Turkish state uses many times a day. However, Europe remains silent on this situation. It is forbidden to use them against everyone, but Turkish state is free to use them against Kurds. They do not accept us. They want no Kurds, no Kurds in the world. All I want is for this persecution to end and for us to succeed. Our martyrs died for our freedom.”
