ANKARA -  Speaking on the 14th day of the Justice Watch against the Imrali isolation, HDP Şırnak MP Nuran Imir stated that the isolation is the result of the hostility against Kurdish community as a whole and said: "Open the doors of İmralı!"

The Justice Watch, initiated by the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), demanding that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan meet with his lawyers, continues on its 14th day. HDP MPs Remziye Tosun, Mehmet Rüştü Tiryaki, Mahmut Celadet Gaydalı, Erol Katırcıoğlu, Erdal Aydemir, Kemal Bülbül, Kemal Peköz, Hüseyin Kaçmaz, Muazzez Orhan Işık and Nuran İmir made a statement at in front of the Parliament with the banners written, "Let the law be applied in İmralı" and "Isolation is a crime against humanity".

'THE WHOLE COUNTRY IS IN THE DARK'

Speaking at the protest, HDP Şırnak MP Nuran İmir emphasised the effects of the isolation on the country's politics and war politics and said, "The AKP and MHP alliance want the country to remain in darkness and chaos, by insisting on isolation, especially by taking advantage of the war policies they are implementing today. They continue to carry out their actions against humanity and the law, based on this. We are in a struggle against all kinds of oppression against the people under any circumstances. A special law is applied in Imrali Island. It should be clarified from where this private law derives its basis and power. Dozens of MPs carry out this Justice Watch to ask, "What is going on on Imrali Island, why are the doors not opening?", but the AKP government continues to remain silent.

A VIOLATION OF LAW AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Expressing that the isolation has caused concerns for millions of people, Imir said, "Mr. Öcalan has been isolated since he was captured by Turkey with an international conspiracy. But especially this year, Mr. Öcalan cannot meet with his family and lawyer. They violate their rights with the excuses put forward by the authorities. This will cause even more chaos. We are warning, the Ministry of Justice should decide their policies. If they can't take responsibility, they should leave the place they occupy. We know that they want to maintain and expand their power with war policies. This isolation you impose in Imrali is also a part of special war policies. Hundreds of people die every day in this war. They also suffer from poverty. Turkey is violating both its own law and international laws."

HOSTILITY AGAINST KURDS

Imir continued as follows: “Today, we see that they have created a moral corruption in society. Look how many laws and regulations are violated today. These arbitrary practices should be abandoned immediately. We want to prevent chaos and prevent this political stalemate. Therefore, Mr. Öcalan is a reality of Turkey. You can try to stop it by banning, criminalizing and isolating him andh is ideas, but it has so much weight that it can make a big change in the political situation. As HDP, we have said that we have never been on the side of the war in the political struggle. Our struggle has always been for freedom of thought, democratic politics and the development of this country. Anti-Kurdish policies do not yield results.

OPEN THE DOORS OF İMRALI TO PEACE

The government should give up its hostility towards Kurds. We will do whatever it takes to break the isolation. We, as parliamentarians, are in activities every day, if something like this would have happened in any other country, the authorities will stop all their work and take action to find a solution. But because they profit from it, they continue on their path. We are taking precautions against this dangerous situation. In these two years, Mr. Öcalan's lawyers made nearly 300 applications to the Ministry of Justice, but neither positive nor negative response was received. We also learned that when the CPT went to Imrali Island, Mr. Öcalan refused to meet with them. We want the AKP government to open the door of Imrali to an independent committee as soon as possible because  millions are concerned. Our delegations should go to Imrali Island. We want this country to develop with freedom of thought. The development of this country cannot be achieved through security policies. We call on the Ministry of Justice to form an independent committee as soon as possible and open the doors of İmralı for peace and solution.”
