ADIYAMAN – A citizen waiting for the search and rescue teams in Adana, where the earthquake caused destruction, looks at the feet of his mother, who died under the rubble for 3 days.

In Adıyaman, one of the cities most affected by the earthquakes, the epicenter of which was the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş, hundreds of people were buried under the rubble on the 4th day. The corpses brought out by the citizens under the rubble are kept in hospital and school corridors and on the streets. In the city where tents were not set up, earthquake survivors spent the night lamenting in Kurdish in front of the fire they lit in front of their ruined houses.

The city, deprived of electricity, water, internet and telephone networks since the first hours of the earthquake, was also deprived of search and rescue teams. While the citizens were carrying out the rescue work with their own means, the state says: "Our rescue teams have reached all cities". In Adıyaman, only the survivors heard the cries for help rising from under the rubble.

'I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE FEET OF MY MOTHER FOR 3 DAYS'

Ahmet Şahin, whose mother's feet are visible under the rubble, said:"I have been here for 3 days. My mother died, but now we want to take our body and bury her. No one would come, if there was a state, they would stop by here. People looking for their relatives, spouses and children under the rubble are calling by their names. While a woman calls out for their families, we want more search and rescue teams."
