İSTANBUL - Describing the KCK's decision of inaction as a moral and political stance, the imprisoned Co-Mayor of Amed Metropolitan Municipality, Selçuk Mızraklı, said: "By observing an environment where such great pain and distress is experienced and the mobilization of the society, it has been the right step to prevent blurring."

Amed Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Selçuk Mızraklı, who was dismissed by the Ministry of Interior on August 19, 2019 and replaced by a trustee, was arrested on October 22. The 9 years, 4 months and 15 days prison sentence given by the Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court for "being a member of a terrorist organization" was moved to the Court of Cassation after it was upheld by the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Justice, sent the file back to the court. After the decision, the trial resumed at the local court and continues.

Mızraklı, who was arrested in Edirne Type F Prison, made evaluations to our agency regarding the agenda.

MAY 14 ELECTIONS

Referring to the elections to be held in Turkey on May 14, Mızraklı evaluated the Labor and Freedom Alliance as an important and valuable move, an effective meeting of politics in overcoming the fundamental issues of the period. Mızraklı continued: “The Kurdi Alliance in Kurdistan, the developments in parts related to national unity, the Labor and Freedom Alliance, all form a compound. Chapters such as marching forward, liberation, democratization and enlightenment can only be possible with the resolution of the unsolved and postponed issue of the century, and every solution affects not only the country but also the region and even wider circles. Especially after the May 14 election process is over, the Alliance will meet with the labor, women, ecology and youth struggle ranks of the society, both with its presence and effectiveness in the Parliament and outside the Parliament, and will expand its volume and sphere of influence with the confidence it has gained politically.

GREEN LEFT PARTY

There is the concept of 'bottom wave' which is widely used in political sociology. Based on this, I call the 'bottom wave' of Kurds+workers+women+the urban and rural poor, the youth wave, against the dark evil regime that consumes hope and trust in the country, and finally the 'late wave'. In the 'late wave', let's say the people who were in the progressive-revolutionary struggle in their youth, are now 65+ but are worried about the future of their grandchildren. When we look at sociology, which is in the field of attraction of alliance rather than arithmetic sums, 20 percent, which seems exaggerated with the right association, organization and solidarity chains, is even low. Even if we do not achieve this now, it is necessary to be loaded with the target of 150 municipalities in the next March 31, 2024 local elections and at least 25 percent in 2028.”

KCK'S DECISION OF INACTION

Referring to the decision of the KCK to take action after the March 6 earthquakes in Maraş, Mızraklı continued as follows: “The KCK's decision of inaction indicates both a moral and a political stance. By observing an environment where such great pain and troubles are experienced and the mobilization of the society, it has been the right step to prevent blur. I think that continuing the election process and afterward would be useful in terms of understanding where it stopped.”
