HATAY - 103 days have passed since the earthquakes, but the problems of the earthquake victims in Hatay on the first day continue to increase with the warming of the weather.

The problems experienced by the earthquake victims continue in Hatay, where the earthquakes that took place in the center of Mereş on February 6 caused the death of thousands of people and the destruction of 51 thousand constructions. While people still do not have access to clean water throughout the city, partial aid to earthquake victims has decreased.

MOST DEBRIS HAVE BEEN REMOVED

Hatay Governor's Office, the process of removing the wreckage of the ruined structures throughout the city, including the districts of Defne and Antakya, where the destruction was most severe, and transporting the debris from the structures to be demolished; It has announced that the debris removal procedures have been completed with the buildings with the status of registered immovable cultural property, industrial enterprises registered in the industrial registry where the wreckage is allowed by the property owners, and commercial enterprises with a size of at least one thousand square meters, except in cases of physical impossibility.

DEBRIS ARE SPILLING 26 AREAS

After the majority of the debris was moved, the heavily damaged buildings in the city were demolished. The demolition works carried out by the companies that won the tender without spilling water, continue in the neighborhoods determined in the districts of Samandağ, Defne and Antakya. The debris from the demolished buildings is also taken and dumped into the designated temporary storage areas without complying with the asbestos regulation.

IMMEDIATE EXPROPRIATION

One of the other important problems in the city was the State of Emergency (OHAL) and the "Immediate Expropriation" decisions taken within the scope of the Presidential Decision. In many rural neighborhoods that were not damaged in the earthquake in the city, the lands of the citizens are confiscated with the decision of "ımmediate expropriation".

Some families continue to remove their belongings, memories and needs from the buildings by taking risks with the families informed before the demolition of their heavily damaged buildings.

BAD ODOR IS SPREADING AS THE AIR IS HOTTER

While the destroyed buildings in the city, the buildings that remained empty for months and the river sides increased the number of pests, the bad smell increased with the warming of the weather. In the city where there is no struggle against vectors, citizens pour sulfur around the tents against the danger of snakes and scorpions around the tents set up in the countryside.

EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS NEED FOR WATER

The most vital and biggest problem in the city is that the main water has not been repaired yet. The need for ready water, which increases with the warming of the weather, is not met.

FEMALE PAD, PATIENT DIAPER AND HYGIENE NEED

Again, one of the most important shortcomings and demands in the city is diapers, sanitary napkins and hygiene materials. Hundreds of earthquake survivors who came to many relief places express their priority demands.

CONTAINER AND FAN REQUEST

As the weather gets warmer, life in tents becomes more difficult, and citizens apply for containers. While containers were rarely delivered, crowded families started to look for separate tents as the weather warmed up. The need for tents has also increased. The need for fans and coolers in tents increased with the warming of the weather.
