The farmer has no purchasing power

VAN - Farmers, who have no purchasing power due to the economic crisis, said: "If the government falls, everything will be fine, so we have to vote on the May 28 elections."

The economic crisis, which deepened due to the war policies of the government, deepened with the elections. Producers are at the forefront of the segments most affected by the bad course of the economy. Farmers and breeders from Van, who make their living with agriculture and animal husbandry, stated that the purchasing power has decreased with the deepening of the crisis, and said that animal husbandry has come to an end.

'ALL PROMISES ARE LIE'

Expressing that they can no longer get along, Mehmet Emin Ertuş condemned the increasing cost. Ertuş said: “We come empty-handed, we leave empty-handed. We buy animals, feed is expensive, there is no grass in the pastures. When we want to sell animals, we make a loss. The reason for this is the economy, it is expensive. They made a lot of promises to us about animal husbandry before, but they all turned out to be lies. People can no longer buy, sell and care for animals. AKP MP Kayhan Türkmenoğlu made many promises to us, but they all turned out to be lies."

Reminding that the animal market was closed for a while due to foot and mouth disease, Ertuş said: “There was no disease, they closed our market just to sell the imported meats they had. The reason for all the problems is cost, we buy an animal, we make a profit of 200 TL, we can't even buy vegetables for our house with that money. We cannot buy the animal we bought before for the same money.”

'EXPORT MUST BE OPENED'

Stating that fattening could not be done due to imported meat, Breeder Necati Caniş said: “They buy imported meat and animals, we keep our animals. Feed, hay and grass are also raised every day. We can't win anymore. Last year we lost, but this year the market is constantly changing. The solution is for livestock producers to establish cooperatives and unite. If the way for export is opened, we can win. But the government doesn't help us."

'WE ARE STRUGGLING TO MAKE A LIVING'

Seyit Aslan, who migrated from Şırnak to Van in the 90s, said: "Agriculture and animal husbandry had come to an end. No one can buy even a kilo of tomatoes anymore, people are miserable. Politicians are caught in a fight for seats and rent, but the villages are empty, agriculture is no longer practiced. They say they will revitalize the villages, all this is a lie. We're struggling to make a living now. They say that they have increased the minimum wage, but this does not concern us, we cannot even get minimum wage. A bag of feed was 300-400 TL, vegetable prices increased. I'm 40 years old, I've never seen this much expensive. Livestock is now over."

'THE BUDGET FLOWS TO SUPPORTERS OF THE GOVERNMENT'

Stating that they had a hard time making a living, Aslan said: “We all make a living from animal husbandry, my brother tries to take care of 50 animals and 15 people. These people do not have a livelihood other than animal husbandry, how will they make a living? If it continues like this, you will not find animals in this square after 1-2 years. The basis of all problems is politics, the cheapening of animals, fuel, feed, the abolition of bans in villages, the revival of village life are all connected with politics. The country's budget flows to politicians and supporters of the government. A great deal of money was spent in the elections and they spent it on their own seats. Farmers and livestock, on the other hand, have finished.``

'IF PEOPLE ARE HUNGER, THE STATE IS NOT OURS'

Stating that the Feast of Sacrifice is approaching, Aslan said: “The rich can buy animals, the poor people will not. I can't even buy it myself, because I can only sell two out of 100 animals. All politicians say 'the state belongs to all of us', but it is not. The state belongs to 30 percent of the population, and the rest of the citizens are hungry and lonely. If so many people are hungry, this state is not ours."

'PEOPLE HAVE TO VOTE FOR THE FALL OF THE GOVERNMENT'

Calling everyone to vote against the policies of the government, Cengiz Ateş said: “Now our people have to be conscientious and vote for the fall of the government. The economy is broken, we can't buy anything. Our animals don't make money. If we should be together we can defeat them. Every year, our situation is getting worse, feed and barley have become more expensive, and we can no longer buy animals because the input prices have increased too much. For this, everyone has to vote for the fall of the government.”
