İZMİR - Seyithan Gümüş, who was both childhood and struggle friend of Hüseyin Arasan, who was murdered in Süleymaniye, stated that Hüseyin did not take a step back despite all the pressure, and said: "We owe a lot to our friends like Hüseyin."

Hüseyin Arasan, who was assassinated on June 9 in front of the Mesopotamian Workers' Association, of which he was a member, in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Federated Kurdistan Region, died in the hospital where he was taken with serious injuries. Arasan, who was born in Dengiza village of Stewr (Savur) district of Merdin, spent 16 years of his life in labor and struggling in prison due to his political activities. Arasan, who went to the Federated Kurdistan Region in 2019 due to state pressure, continued his struggle under the umbrella of the Mesopotamian Workers' Association. Hüseyin, who was murdered as a result of his assassination, was buried in the "Mehmet Karasungur Martyrdom" in Kandil on June 11, according to his will.

BOTH A FRIEND AND COMRADE

Seyithan Gümüş talked about Hüseyin Arasan, his childhood and struggle friend, who left great marks in his life. Arasan, who lives in the Nafiz Gürman District of the Bayraklı district of İzmir, and Gümüş, who moved in 1984 at the age of 6, spent their childhood years together. Explaining that they embarked on the political struggle together with the youth of the People's Labor Party (HEP) in 1993, Gümüş said that after that date, comradeship relations began and they took an active role in political party activities.

'HÜSEYIN IMPRESSED PEOPLE'

Stating that Hüseyin impressed people, Gümüş said: "Arasan belong to the struggle of Kurdish movement. He always paid attention to the works of the struggle. We used to wander around the markets and neighborhoods. There was a sense of belonging.
He attached great importance to meeting order in neighborhood meetings. At that time, discipline was instilled in our friends. He was leading the people. Hüseyin once distributed the Azadiya Welat Newspaper. He even gave the papers he paid for to those who had no money, as long as they could read it."

'HIS WORK WILL WRITE HISTORY'

Stating that Arasan had a great impact on people in prison, Gümüş continued: "He was in the same prison as my uncle. The conversations we had with him when I went to see my uncle in prison always impressed me. He never took a step back. Even people who spent 20-25 years in prison talked about the personality of Hüseyin. They would say, 'It is admirable that he took great responsibility at a young age. We talked again after his release. His family wanted him to get married. But he always had party work in mind. He did not set anything else as a target. Words are not enough to describe Hüseyin. One side is definitely missing. It was necessary to get to know him. I feel very lucky to have known him. We owe a lot to our friends like Hüseyin for that reason. Their efforts will make history."
