NEWS CENTER - 80,000 signatures were presented to the Swiss Federal Council for the recognition of ISIS's genocide against theÊzidis.

80,927 signatures were collected within the framework of the petition launched last May, demanding that the atrocities committed by ISIS against the Êzidis by attacking Shengal in August 2014 be recognized as genocide by the Swiss government. The collected signatures were presented to the Chancellor of the Swiss Federal Council after the statement made in front of the Bern Federal Parliament by a group of 50 people, including Swiss Socialist Party National Parliament Member Roger Nordman, Greens National Parliament Member Natalie Imboden and witnesses to the atrocities of ISIS.

'RECOGNITION AS GENOCIDE WILL PREVENT NEW MASSACRE'

In the statement made on behalf of the group, it called for the recognition of what is done against the Êzidis as genocide, and drew attention that this is a responsibility. Reminding the reports of the United Nations (UN) that drew attention that what was done to the Ezidis by ISIS is within the scope of genocide, the statement emphasized that the recognition as genocide will be effective in preventing new massacres.

15 CALL AT THE FEDERAL COUNCIL FROM THE ATTORNEY

On the other hand, Members of the National Parliament Fabian Molina, Mustafa Atici, Brigitte Crottaz, Laurence Fehlmann Rielle, Friedli Claudia, Barbara Gysi, Martin Landolt, Angelina Moser Tiana, Martina Munz, Jon Pult, Ursula Schneider Schüttel, Priska Seiller Graf, Lilian Studer, Nicolas Walder , Celine Widmer called for the recognition of the crimes committed by ISIS against the Êzidis as genocide, with the motion they submitted to the National Parliament on June 15. The motion, which was signed by 15 deputies, drew attention to the report of the UN Syria International Independent Investigation Commission, and included the UN Human Rights Council's call for the member states to recognize the genocide. The resolution stated: “Switzerland will not only provide a measure of justice for the victims by recognizing this genocide, but will also make an active commitment to combating impunity and criminal prosecution of those who commit these crimes in accordance with the spirit of international law. Again, recognizing the genocide against Ezidis will help ensure that such a crime is never committed again.”
