ÊLIH - 31 years have passed since the Kurdish scholar Musa Anter was murdered by JİTEM. Dicle Anter stated that the search for justice was answered with prescription and emphasized that the tradition of resisting journalism still continues.

31 years have passed since the murder of journalist, intellectual and writer Musa Anter, who was murdered by JITEM on September 20, 1992 in Amed, where he came to attend the cultural festival. The perpetrators were not found and the case regarding the massacre was dropped last year due to prescription. The file, which was kept on the shelves until 2000 after his murder, was decided in 2007 regarding Anter's family's application to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) that "the right to life was violated both materially and procedurally". The ECtHR also found that some important evidence, such as the Parliament's 1998 "Susurluk report", which emerged after the incident and was directly related to Anter's murder, was not used by the authorities.

THE CASE THAT STARTED WITH 1 LEAF

Underlining that they have been demanding justice since the day his father was murdered, but their demands have run out of time after 30 years, Anter said: “My father is a very loved person by the people. The way it was written became a language that the public could understand. He used this in his journalism. And he was very loved. He was someone who explained Kurdish history and resistance very well and gave information to the Kurdish people in this context. They were constantly targeted because they expressed these things. The state set a trap and murdered him. After his murder, we began to seek justice. This process, which we started with a single leaf, developed a great impact, but ended with prescription."

Noting that they took the case that was dropped due to prescription to the Constitutional Court, Anter said that if there is no result, they will apply to the ECtHR.

'THE ANSWER IS GIVEN WITH PRESCRIPTION'

Noting that the cases that are a bleeding wound of the society are tried to be cleared by the prescription, Anter said: “Although it is obvious by whom and how my father was killed, the case dropped due to prescription. The same situation occurred in the Sivas Massacre. People who burn people are released, murderers are released. This situation has become a bleeding wound of society, the massacre mentality is walking among us. Demands for justice are always answered this way."

RESISTANCE JOURNALISM

Describing his father's journalism as "resistance journalism", Anter said: "Musa Anter's journalism is an important journalism, his little generals(journalists of the Free Press), as Musa Anter put it, did not leave their pens down. The attacks on resisting journalists are obvious. Abdurrahman Gök and many other journalists faced the sword of Damocles. And right now journalists are in prison just for reporting. But they are not backing down. The tradition of Musa Anter will always continue."

Reminding that the "Musa Anter Journalism Competition" has been organized in the name of Musa Anter for 30 years, Anter said that this is of great importance for the Kurdish people.
