AMED -Citizens who condemned the Imrali isolation at the DBP congress said that the isolation was a crime against humanity and should be lifted.

There has been no news from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and prisoners Hamili Yıldırım, Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş, who are held in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison, for more than 31 months. Citizens who attended the congress held by the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) in Amed(Diyarbakır) yesterday called for an end to the isolation.

'ISOLATION MUST BE LIFTED'

İhsan İnatçı said that isolation is an inhumane practice. Stating that a detained person has rights like every human being, Inatçı said: "The isolation imposed on a person whom millions believe in is the isolation imposed on the people; therefore, this isolation is never acceptable."

Drawing attention that a different system is in effect in İmralı, İnatçı called: "The economy is ruined. No one can survive. It is in everyone's interest for this war to end; therefore, the isolation should be lifted. We do not accept isolation. This isolation should be lifted and the people of this country should breathe." .

Nuray Abay emphasized that the isolation should be lifted. Stating that they will fight until the isolation is lifted, Abay said: "The isolation on Abdullah Öcalan should be lifted. We will not stop, we will work for peace and to end the isolation in the streets."

'ISOLATION MUST BE LIFTED FOR PEACE'

Şeyhmus Çakar drew attention that family and lawyer visits have not been allowed for years and said: "A very difficult isolation is being implemented. This isolation is applied not only to the Kurdish people, but to all peoples. Neither the Kurdish people nor anyone else accepts this isolation. We condemn this isolation. Peace can be built by lifting the isolation. Abdullah Öcalan is on the side of peace. When the isolation is severe, the war also becomes severe. Isolation must be lifted for peace."

'THE GATES OF IMRALI MUST BE OPENED'

Behiye Sevim, one of the Peace Mothers, emphasized that isolation is a "crime against humanity". Stating that they said "No to deaths, massacres, war and isolation", Sevim said: "We mothers do not want any mother to cry; therefore, mothers should take to the streets and say 'enough is enough' against the isolation. The gates of Imrali must be opened as soon as possible, the isolation should be lifted and peace should be achieved. Let it be built."
