ISTANBUL - Abdullah Öcalan, who has not been heard from in İmralı Prison for 32 months, has been given a new 6-month ban on visit of a lawyer. The content of the decision was not given to lawyers for "security" reasons.

 

PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in absolute isolation in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison, has not been heard from since his interrupted phone call with his brother Mehmet Öcalan on March 25, 2021. While the situation of not receiving any news continues, it was learned that Abdullah Öcalan was given a new ban on visit of a lawyer.

 

Lawyers of Asrın Law Firm applied to Bursa Execution Judgeship, requesting a lawyer visit on November 6, 2023. After the application, the lawyers learned that their client Abdullah Öcalan was given a new 6-month lawyer ban on October 31, 2023.

 

'SECURITY' REASON!

 

The judgeship rejected the request for the content of the ban decision and the file sample, citing "security" reasons. The lawyers' appeal to a higher court against the ban decision was also rejected.

 

Asrın Law Firm will apply to the Constitutional Court (AYM) against the ban decision.

 

AT LEAST 12 LAWYERS WERE BANNED IN 8 YEARS

 

Abdullah Öcalan was banned from visit of a lawyer for 6 months on April 26, 2023. After this decision expired, the lawyers applied for a meeting. As a result of the application, it was learned that a new 6-month ban on visit of a lawyer was issued on October 31.

 

Abdullah Öcalan has been banned from visit of a lawyer at least 12 times in the last 8 years with the latest ban decision.
