AMED - Halise Aksoy (57), whose son Agit's bones were delivered in a cargo box, has been arrested for 9 months due to witness statements about her. Her lawyer called for solidarity before the hearing of Halise Aksoy, which will be held tomorrow, stating that she was "approached with hostile criminal law"

Halise Aksoy (57), who was arrested on April 25, 2023, within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with the statements of a witness named Ümit Akbıyık, has been deprived of her freedom for approximately 9 months. The second hearing of the case against Aksoy, who is known to the public through a photo and where the bones of her son Agit İpek, who lost his life in a conflict in Dersim in 2017, was delivered to her in a cargo box 3 years later, will continue tomorrow at the Diyarbakır 10th High Criminal Court.

Responding to the accusations in the case file before the hearing, her lawyer Zeynep Karayılan stated that her client was "treated with hostile criminal law."

Reminding that approximately 200 people were detained and some people, including her client, were arrested based on the statements of witness Ümit Akbıyık. Karayılan stated that the reason for the arrest was based on the witness' statements that her client's house was "safe for members of the organization". Stating that an indictment was prepared against her client on the charge of "being a member of a terrorist organization" in line with these statements, Karayılan stated that the statements of the witness heard via the Audio and Video Information System (Segbis) at the first hearing of the case on October 6, 2023 contradicted her previous statements. Karayılan noted that, despite this, the court decided to continue the detention of her client on the grounds that there was another secret witness statement about her.

WITNESS STATEMENTS ARE CONTRADICTORY

Stating that there was another open witness in the indictment prepared, apart from the known open witness, and that the court committee gave up hearing this witness because it could not be reached, Karayılan said: “There was also a secret witness. All three witnesses in question made irrelevant statements. None of their statements support each other. Apart from these, the indictment also wrote about the situation of her son, whose bones were sent to her in a cargo box, and this situation was also included in the justification. This issue alone shows the unlawful trial applied to Halise Aksoy”

SHE SUFFERS FROM HEALTH PROBLEMS

Lawyer Karayılan also stated that her client, who has many health problems such as blood pressure, sugar, heart and diabetes, increased her illnesses under prison conditions.

Saying that she was hospitalized several times for this reason, Karayılan said: “She stated that she had stomach discomfort in the early stages, but of course the necessary treatments were not given on time. In addition, she had surgery on her eyes many times before she went to prison. During our last meeting, she was talked about the problem with her eyes. She stated that her eyes were constantly watering and although she went to the infirmary and took medication, there was no change”
