'KURDS ARE NOT YOUR SLAVES'

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Deputy Chair and Colemêrg Deputy Vezir Coşkun Parlak said: "Even going to a football match in Hakkari is enough to experience police violence. A citizen who went to watch the match with his child was subjected to torture at the police station under the pretext of taking a statement. We warn the Hakkari Governorship; Hakkari people and Kurds are not your slaves, stop implement enemy law."

BAR ASSOCIATION: WE WILL FOLLOW

In its written press release, the Colemêrg Bar Association stated that "unfair and unlawful house searches as well as ill-treatment amounting to torture" have been experienced in the center and districts of Colemêrg in recent times, and added: "Torture has been defined and absolutely prohibited in the international conventions and documents to which Turkey is a party and in domestic law. We state very clearly that torture and ill-treatment are against human dignity and are unacceptable. Regardless of the accusation against them, no one can be tortured or ill-treated in any way and at any stage. The necessary investigation must be carried out immediately against the law enforcement officers who engaged in the said treatment. We demand that the judicial authorities carry out an effective and urgent investigation against torture, inhumane and ill-treatment and violent acts and punish the perpetrators, and we respectfully inform the public that we are following the legal process."
