ANKARA - AKP's Alpay Özalan, who attacked DEM Party and TİP deputies in Parliament, and Ahmet Şık, who was attacked, have been reprimanded.

 

Parliament's plenary session reconvened after AKP's Alpay Özalan attacked Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) group deputy chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit and TİP deputy Ahmet Şık.

 

The parliamentary session was opened by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş instead of AKP Deputy Speaker Bekir Bozdağ, who had presided over the session during the attack.

 

REPRIMAND FOR BOTH

 

Kurtulmuş stated that the Parliamentary Advisory Board convened after the attack and that the group deputy chairs of the opposition parties agreed on the meeting. Kurtulmuş proposed that Şık and Özalan be sentenced to reprimand. Şık and Özalan were sentenced to reprimand with a vote.

 

After the decision, the session continued with speeches by the group deputy chairs.
