ADANA - During the “Speak up for freedom” demonstration in front of Kürkçüler Prison, end to the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan was demanded.

The “Speak up for freedom” protest initiated by prisoners' relatives as part of the “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, democratic solution to the Kurdish issue” campaign continues. Relatives of prisoners gathered in front of Kürkçüler Prison in Adana and made a sit-in protest and a statement. Peace Mothers, Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), Adana Akdeniz Association for Assistance and Solidarity with Families Who Lost Their Relatives (AYKAY-DER) executives attended the statement.

“Let's break isolation for justice, speak up for freedom for social peace” banner was carried in the statement and the slogan ‘Bijî berxwedana zindana (Long live resistance of dungeons)’ was frequently chanted. Participants wearing aprons in Turkish and Kurdish saying “Isolation is a crime against humanity” were prevented by the police near the prison. Relatives of prisoners, who were not allowed to approach the prison any further, made a statement under police blockade.

CALL FOR JOINT STRUGGLE

Making a statement at the blockade, DEM Party Adana Provincial Co-Chair Helin Kaya said that they will continue to stand against war and occupation for the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue in the days when the Middle East crises deepen and the possibility of conflict and war grows. Kaya demanded an end to the politics of oppression to suppress and destroy the Kurdish people's demands for equality and freedom. Kaya called on the forces of democracy for a common and strong struggle to end the isolation in İmralı Prison, unjust arrests, hostage politics in the Kobanê and Gezi trials and to implement the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court.

The statement was ended after the sit-in.
