ANKARA - Ismet Aslan, who is being held in Marmara Type L Prison No. 5, has Mycosis Fungoides (MF), a form of skin cancer, but his medication is not given to him by the prison administration.
İsmet Aslan, who has been working as Collective Bargaining and Legal Affairs Specialist at Confederation of Public Laborers' Unions (KESK) for 20 years, was arrested after being detained in a house raid on 7 October 2024 and sent to Marmara (Silivri) Prison. It is stated that Aslan, whose file was subject to a confidentiality order, was arrested on the grounds of "secret witness" testimonies.
As part of the international campaign launched by KESK for Aslan's release, letters of protest were sent to the Presidency and the Ministry of Justice, and 4,000 signatures were collected.
NO ACCESS TO TREATMENT
İsmet Aslan is struggling with Mycosis Fungoides (MF), a form of skin cancer. The disease, which requires regular treatment, has progressed due to prison conditions. However, it was stated that although Aslan's medication was supplied by the pharmacy contracted by the prison administration, it was not given to him on security grounds. Aslan has not been able to access treatment despite calls by human rights organisations and lawyers. Aslan's health condition deteriorated and his skin started to fall off.
