ISTANBUL - Law Office of the Century stated that the false and manipulative statements against Abdullah Öcalan aim to undermine the efforts for solution and peace and said, "We invite everyone to put forth effort and tought to reach a democratic ground."
Law Office of the Century share a written statement regarding the manipulative and false statements about PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under isolation in İmralı Type F High Security Prison for 26 years.
Statement reads: "In these days we are all witnessing together that our client Mr Abdullah Öcalan is trying to fullfill his historical role for the construction of an equal, free and democratic common life. Despite the condisitons of isolation, he is waging a relentless struggle for an honourable peace against those who feed on polarisation and the lack of solution to the Kurdish issue.
In such a historical and sensitive period, instead of showing the morality of thinking about how to contribute to a democratic solution, we see that approaches to Mr Öcalan are based on lies, manipulative, and do not recognise the limits of level and respect. We are also aware that these shabby discussions and discourses carried out on TV or virtual media channels under the name of understanding the process have a problem of morality and mentality and aim to undermine the efforts for peace and solution. Such approaches are directed not only against the person of Mr Öcalan, but also against his solution power, and moreover, against his libertarian intellectualism that has spread around the world with the philosophy of Jin Jîyan Azadî (Woman, life, freedom). For these reasons, we invite everyone to think and speak in the language of peace, to put forth effort and thought to reach a democratic ground with a positive attitude."
