Council meeting in front of Sêrt Municipality

SÊRT - The dismissed co-mayors and council members of Sêrt Municipality, to which a trustee was appointedi held the February council meeting with the agenda of "trustee" in front of the municipality because they were not allowed inside. 

Protests against the appointment of trustees to Sêrt (Siirt) Municipality continue. Citizens gathered in front of the municipality and chanted "Bijî berxwedana Rojava (Long live resistance of Rojava)", "Bijî berxwedana gelê Kurd (Long live resistance of Kurdish people)", "Thief trustee", "We will win if we resist" and "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)". Co-mayors of Sêrt Municipality who were dismissed and replaced by trustees, DEM Party MPs, Peace Mothers Assembly members and many citizens participated in the protest.
 
Sêrt Municipality Co-Mayors Sofya Alağaş, Mehmet Kaysi and municipality council members gathered in front of the municipality with the citizens and wanted to go to the municipality to attend the February council meeting, but they were prevented from entering the municipality building by the police. During the discussion that took place after the entrance to the municipality building was prevented, DEM Party Sêrt MP Sabahat Erdoğan Sarıtaş stated that those who appointed the trustees were trying to produce legal justifications and said that the government continues to commit crimes.
 
The co-mayors and council members attended the February council meeting in front of the municipality after preventetion. DEM Party MPs Free Women Movement (Tevgera Jin^n Azad-TJA), Peace Mothers' Assembly and many people attended the meeting. Speaking at the meeting, co-mayor Mehmet Kaysi reminded that the number of DEÖ Party municipality council members is 20, while AKP has 11. Criticising the silence of AKP municipality council members, Kaysi said that they will take all legal remedies against this coup the will of the people. 
 
Sofia Alağaş, Co-Mayor of Sêrt Municipality, said that the trustees were also an attack on women's achievements, "The trustee mentality is an attack on co-mayor system. It is an attack against women's gains. Despite the fraud in the election, you lost big. You will lose again," Sofia Alağaş said. 
 
Then the council meeting was held.  The agenda of the assembly this week was the trustee appointment.
 
The meeting ended with the slogans "Jin, jiyan, azadî", "Bijî berxwedana gelê Kurd".
