NEWS CENTRE - The Department for the Protection of Mass Graves under the Iraqi Ministry of Health and the Martyrs' Institution announced the identities of 32 people whose remains were exhumed from mass graves during the 3 August Edict years later.
On 5 February, the Forensic Medicine Institute and the Department of Mass Graves began the opening of the 54th mass grave in Shengal. The process of opening mass graves has been ongoing since March 2019. Approximately 40 more mass graves are waiting to be opened in Shengal.
The fate of thousands of Yazidis in Shengal after the ISIS attack in 2014 is still unknown and new mass graves continue to be unearthed. In the last 5 years, the remains of thousands of people have been exhumed from mass graves. The Iraqi Ministry of Health's Department for the Protection of Mass Graves and the Martyrs' Institution announced today the identities of 32 people whose remains were exhumed from a mass grave in Kocho in Shengal five years ago.
The ministry did not provide information on when the bodies of the deceased would be handed over to their families.
The identities of the 32 people are as follows: Seharan Yusuf Xişman, Zerîfa Xelef Kel, Nevzad Saleh Kasım, Abdullah Saleh Kasım, Serdar Saleh Kasım, Nuri Sait Ceza, Sebah Said Ceza, Emin Saleh Kasım, Medlûl Ebas Kasım, Telet Nayf Casim, Telal Nayf Casim, Felah Hasan Eliyas, Hezo Cetan, Meran Ahmed Garis, Hasan Ahmed Ezîd, Felah Hasan Ahmed, Hasan Eliyas Saleh, Berzan Derwêş Coqî, Farsi Hisên Eto, Xidir Ezêr Murad, Sait Xidir Paço, Bapîr Xidir Paço, Casim Ahmed Casim, Miho Eliyas Xidir, Nayf Xidir Hesen, Şêrîn Elo Yusuf, Xelef Murda Mahmud, Xidir Paço Selo, Xelef Hecî Hesen, Şabaz Xelef Hisên, Xwedêda Mehlo Ali, Saleh Bekir Salih.
