İSTANBUL- At least 52 people, including members of EMEP, SYKP, HDK, ESP, DBP, Green Left Party and a journalist, were detained in house raids in Istanbul.
Many houses were raided in the morning hours as part of an operation centred in Istanbul. Many members of Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), Labour Party (EMEP), Socialist Refoundation Party (SYKP), Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and Green Left Party were detained.
In the statement made by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was announced that the operation was carried out against HDK, a detention warrant was issued for 60 people in 10 provinces within the scope of the investigation and 52 people have been detained so far.
The names of those detained are as follows: HDK members Aynur Cengiz, Melih Kayhan Pala, Esengül Demir; Green Left Party Naci Dönmez, EMEP members Sema Barbaros, Mustafa Mayda, Mehmet Turp; ESP member Semiha Şahin; DBP members Atilla Özdoğan, Erkin Barın Göylüler, Hacı Aslan; DEM Party Iğdır Provincial Co-Chair Alya Akkuş, SYKP members Halit Elçi, Mehmet Saltoğlu, Ahmet Saymadi, journalists Yıldız Tar, Ercüment Akdeniz, Elif Akgül and painters Taner Güven and Pınar Aydınlar.
EMEP Co-chiar reacted detentions and stated that they do not accept this unlawfullnes and they will continue to struggle.
