QERS - Speaking at the march against the appointment of a trustee to Kagizman Municipality, "If the governments is determined to appoint a trustee, we are determined in our struggle" said DEM Party MP Nejla Demir.
The appointment of a trustee to Qaxizman (Kagizman) Municipality by the Ministry of Interior was protested in the city. A march was organized from the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) district organization building to the district square.
Speaking at the statement, Agirî (Ağrı) MP Nejla Demir stated that they condemn the denialist and rejectionist mentality that disregards the will of the people and denigrates the will of the people and said, "Will of the Kurds must have frightened the government so much that the government so much that the government is putting its three-stage plan into action. The firs is to sue the co-mayors under various pretexts, the second is to intimidate the people with police and soldiers, and finally to appoint trustees. They did this in many of our cities. You can usurp municipalities by using the power of the state, but the main thing is the resistance of the people. While we will go down in history as the people who resisted and won, you will take your place in the dirty wastebasket of the dark history you created. If the government is determined to appoint trustees, we are also determined in our struggle."
Kagizman dismissed Co-mayor Mehmet Alkan said, "We are the owners of this district. We do not know who the trustee is and he does not know us. In a short period of ten months, we have brought our municipality to a level to recover the problems of the past period. However, they prevented the service we would provide to our people. These are people who have no reputation in the eyes of the people. They opened a file with a fabricated case and gave a penalty to pave the way for the trustee. We do not accept the punishment and we do not recognize the trustee. This municipality belongs to the people and no one else. We will take it again."
Kagizman dismissed Co-mayor Güner Hatay said, "The law works differently when it comes to Kurds. The case against our Co-Mayor is not a legal case. Unfortunately, with the trustee appointments, they want to trample and destroy the will of the Kurdish people. But we say 'municipality usurpation is unacceptable.' The struggle will continue and the Kurdish people will never give up their struggle for freedom."
DEM Party MP Yilmaz Hun said, "The right to elect and be elected is currently denied to the Kurdish people. This is unacceptable. Our democratic struggle against this will continue. We know very well what the turstee is doing. This is a fascist regime. As you know, friends of the Kurdish people have also been targeted recently. Your right to Urban Consesus is being violated. The coming together of the Kurdish people through HDK is being targeted. In other words, the Kurdish people are being isolated in Turkey. Whatever happens, the Kurdish people will organize and will not bow down."
