DİYARBAKIR- Prof. Dr. Melek Göregenli evaluating the results of the field study said : " The abstinence and the violations of rights are still continuing after the conflicting period. The children still are living in bad conditions. They witnessed all kinds of violence. They can manage getting over it if we can improve their life conditions.
Prof. Dr. Melek Göregenli, who leaded the field study conducted by Diyarbakır bar and psychologists about the conditions of the families and children and the violations of rights of children after the conflicting period in historic Sur district, said they interviewed 561 families face to face.
Göregenli, summarized the cause of the study as "The living conditions of the children in Sur and the effects of the conflicting period upon their psychology."
Göregenli stated that basic necessities still cannot being managed in Sur and the burden of the negations are on the shoulders of women and children.
'WE NEED TO MAINTAIN BETTER CONDITIONS'
Göregenli, stating that there is still much to do for Sur said; "I cannot think that what we went through was our destiny. There is always something we can do in life. We may have gone through a very rough period. These children have witnessed very bad conditions and they are still living through it. They witnessed the conflicts and all kinds of violations and violence. I cannot think that they fell apart. If we can improve the life conditions they can get through this."
