ADANA- Attorney Turgay Bek indicated that every campus inside Tarsus Prison has their own way of administration. The prisons are run by the wardens personal arbitrary choices rather then by regulations.
There are 6 prisons inside Tarsus Campus Prison which is known as the biggest prison in Çukurova district. Women and children are being kept there as well.
Tarsus Campus Prison is becoming a current issue due to its reputation about violations of rights. Tugay Bek who follows upon the violations of right in the 5 thousand prisoner capacity prison commented.
Bek, indicating that the wardens are behaving just like overlords, said : "The wardens are administrating the prisons on their on personal and arbitrary choices, not on regulations. We are witnessing a prison every warden do whatever they want.
Bek, reminding of how 33 prisoners who refused to stand up during the count got beaten and put in padded cells , says there is a military like attitude imposed by the wardens. Bek, emphasizing that the prisoners resisted the stand-up count, added; " The prison administration gave up the stand up count due to the determination of the prisoners. The prison administration increases the assaults on the prisoners to establish authority.
