ŞIRNAK- 8 villages in Şırnak’s water is cut by DEDAŞ because the electricity bills of the water wells are not paid. Ahmet Erdem, headman of one of these villages reacted: “ Either give us our water back, or come sent us out of here.”
8 villages in Şırnak does not have water for 9 days now because Dicle Electricity Distribution Company cut the electricity of the water wells because of the bills. Peasants are carrying water with tractors from 7 km’s away because of the cuts.
The peasants are not able to procure their needs of hygene due to the cuts. The efforts to solve the problem did not work.
The headmen of Yağmurkuyusu Village Ahmet Erdem is reacting to the autorities. Erdem stating that the village has a population of 300 people says this is unacceptable. Erdem said: “ There are old and sick people in the village,there are children. The village has approximately 400 thousand liras of debt to DEDAŞ. There used to be fountains in the village, now there is not. They are telling us if we do not pay, they won’t give us our water back, I am calling on to the authorities, either give us our water back or sent us out of here.”
