ANKARA- Ayten Gülsün and Besé Öze who are being kept in prison more than 20 years, mentioned in their letters that they will continue their hunger strike until the isolation is terminated. Öze said their aim with their action is to call out to the source of the truth about the people and to their freedom.

 

Ayten Gülsüm and Besé Özer who are being kept in Gebze Women's Closed Prison, wrote a letter regarding their hunger strike.Ayten Gülsün (40), was arrested when she was 20, in 1999. Gülsün who was sentenced to 36 years of jail time, is in prison for 20 years. Gülsün who took place in the previous hunger strikes with the same demand, is on hunger strike for 96 days now.

 

 Gülsün said: "Breaking the isolation means the development of peace and freedom. The isolation on our leader is preventing the peace and freedom in Turkey. To keep hem under isolation is to keep the freedom struggle of the Kurdish community under isolation. It is very clear that the isolation is fettering the democracy and peace persuit of both the Kurdish community and the peoples of Turkey. Therefore, ending the isolation is our main objective.

 

I will end my hunger strike when our leader is free from isolation and is able to work. There is no alternative.

 

I will not end my action until our leader has regular contact with his  attorneys, family and legal guardian, until he has exercised his basic human, legal and political rights."

 

Besé Özer was arrested by Jitem in 1996 in Diyarbakır, Lice and was sentenced  with life in prison. She is in prison for 23 years. She joined the hunger strikes on January 26. Özer said: " The fascism will not be destroyed and the isolation will not broke until the people say 'No, stop, never!' about the isolation they are being kept under.This resistance is for ourselves and for the recovery of the society. This is how you destroy tyranny. We will not give up until the isolation is terminated."
