50 year old Hüseyin Ay whose son 24 year old Hakkı Ay is on hunger stike against the isolation in Elazığ No 1 Type T Prison since March 1, started a hunger steike 5 days ago to support his son. Father Ay plans to be on hunger strike for 10 days for support.

 

 

Father Ay stated that his son was accused of 'being a member of an illegal organization' and was sentenced to 22 years and 6 months in prison on December 27, 2015.

 

Father Ay who stated that his son lost around 10 kilograms, mentioned the phone call he made with his son and said: "He sounded weak, he got so thin already. When I asked him how he is , he told me;'We are ok but this silence will cost our friends their lives'. His demand was for us to end our silence. One of his friends called out and said 'Our action will end gloriosly no matter what'.

 

 

Father Ay who stated that he came to Ankara and Diyarbakır with some other families to meet with the political parties, said he started this hunger strike because his son told him that the silence will cost his friends their lives.

 

Father Ay who started the hunger strike even though he had a surgery from his stomach before, said: "I can not handle this silence as a father. That's why I decided to join the hunger strike action for 10 days. I thought if I end up in prison, I would continue there. The demand of our children is our demand. They can not make us give up on our children. If we stay silent today, we can not carry the coffins of our children tomorrow. We can not hold our heads high."

 

 

Father Ay who made a call to the public said: "If they can not do anything, they can go sit in front of their own door. We can not let them change the agenda. We expect everyone's support to end the isolation. We know that if you remain unresponsive today, same thing will happen to you. Our liberation is only possible if we stand up against this."
