Hunger strike she started in prison continues back at home: We will take what's ours

MARDİN - Gurbet Ektiren who continues the hunger strike she started in prison back in her home, have left behind day 100. Ektiren said: "We want what's ours. We want our right. We want our lands, our language. And we will take it' and made a call saying 'Break this silence'.

The hunger strike of Gurbet Ektiren she started in Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison on January 15 continues back in her home at day 100. Ektiren whose brother who also is a prisoner and her uncle is on hunger strike, suffers from muscle and joint pains.Ektiren whose regular health checks are done by Mardin Medical Chamber, is having diffculty in moving.
 
Ektiren who has faith that their action will give results, said they will continue until they do get results. Ektiren said: "In an environment we are not free to speak our mother language, where there is no education in our mother language and our politicians are in prisons, we cans ay that isolation is not limited with İmralı. We are all isolated."
 
Ektiren who underlined that the hunger strike action must be claimed by the Kurdish people, said: "Silence has been holding our people captive. They can imprison us. That won't hurt us. They can kill on of us, thousand of us will sprout. We are not afraid of death or prisons. The people must come to terms with themselves. They must know themselves. The isolation is not only on our leader. We are all being imposed to isolation. Therefore, we shall not remain unresponsive and everyone should react."
 
Ektiren who stated that she feels peaceful and happy to be involved in the hunger strike action, said: "We will reach our goal. In Derik back in 2015 when the autonomy was declared, everyone including the women and the children were out on the streets. Today, my brother who got arrested with me and mu uncle are on hunger strike as well. That reveals something beautiful. It created happiness and hope. This is my call to our people, break this silence, don't remain unresponsive!"
