İSTANBUL - HDP former MP Ferhat Encu who was released from Kandıra No 1 Type F Closed Prison where he was kept for approximately 3 years, stating that his sentence was related to the anger they had for Roboski Massacre being brought to question, said: "They had a different grudge for the people of Roboski and it manifested itself through me."
People's Democratic Party (HDP) former Şırnak MP Ferhat Encu was released on June 14. Encu who was arrested on November 4 in scope of the operation against HDP Co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, was released on february 15 ,2017 and 2 days later, was arrested again on the objection of the prosecution and was sent to Kandıra No 1 Type F Closed Prison.
Ferhat Encu who was released after serving his time, spoke to Mesopotamian Agency (MA) .
Encu , recalling that he was arrested unlawfully after the November 4 coup, said: "We got taken under custody ffrom different locations on November 4. And we got arrested really fast. A long time has passed since then. I want to express once more that, in terms of the unlawful practices we faced, and the approach of the prosecutors and the judges, we can say that our imprisonment decision was political. "
Encu, stating that he came to the parliament as the voice of the people of Roboski, said his imprisonment was a message to the people of Roboski. Encu continued: "The fact that I was being punished might be related to Roboski, but it was not solely because of Roboski. Roboski Massacre was a continuation of the oppression on the Kurdish community , all those attacks, forced immigrations..It was a message to the Kurdish community. Roboski Massacre is important for the conjuncture of that day. Because the revelation and struggle of such a massacre that was so clearly planned in that period was of a different dimension. For this reason, it has forced the AKP government's hand to a very difficult situation. The resistance of the people and their demands forced them politically. The struggle of the people of Roboski was of great importance because it caused the opening up of the investigations, turning them into lawsuits and deciphering their dirty policies. There was a different hatred against the Roboski people who carried out the struggle. This hatred came to the light and manifested itself through me. ”
Encu said that the operation carried out to the politicians was the continuation of an intimidation policy, said: "Unfortunately, the dark hand that ended the solution process has made such an orientation towards legal and democratic politics. ”
