MARDİN - The people trying to get to Mardin, Diyarbakır and Van from surrounding provinces to protest the appointment of the trustees are being prevented from the police at the check points. 

 

 

The appointment of trustees to Mardin, Diyarbakır and Van metropolitan municipalities by the Ministry of Interior will be protested by HDP residents in Mardin today. HDP municipal co-mayors, councilors and party members who wanted to come to Mardin from surrounding provinces and districts before the protest were stopped by the police at checkpoints established at the entrances of the city.

 

 

While HDP residents were not allowed to enter Mardin, police warned them to return to HDP. HDP members who insist on entering the city are told by the Mardin Governorship that there is a 30-day ban on actions and activities in the city, while HDP members continue to wait at the checkpoints.

 

 

While the city is under police blockade prior to the press release HDP is to hold, water cannons, armoured vehicles and a large number of police officers was posted in the city.
