Hakkari Municipality Co- Mayor Cihan Karaman  and Yüksekova Municipality Co-Chair Remziye Yaşar and İrfan Sarı have been arrested by the court they appeared on October 17 with the accusation of 'being a member of an illegal organization' and 'propagandizing an illegal organization'. They later were transferred to Elazığ No 2 Maximum Security Closed prison on November 5. İrfan Sarı is being held in solitary confinement since that day.

 

İrfan Sarı was able to be visited by his family on December 11 for the first time since they were transferred to another prison. His wife Aynur Sarı who told about their visit, said that her husband's only connection with the outside is the weekly 10 minute phone calls.

 

Aynur Sarı shared the message of her husband: "Our people who take pains with us, knows what is being done and that is what is valuable. The time we spend in detention or conviction will not detach us from our people. Those who imprisoned us to keep us away from our struggle have now exiled us to prisons far away from our families and our people. Those who impose isolation on us should know that they cannot intimidate us in the cold single-person wards. In any case, we will be with our people, we will continue to share the pain. We greet all our people who send their warm greetings to so far away.
