İSTANBUL- Some artists and intellectuals initiated a rotating daily hunger strike action to support the members of the Grup Yorum who are on a death fast. The first name to go on a one day hunger strike was artist Pınar Aydınlar. 

 

Some intellectuals and artists took action in order to support the members of Grup Yorum, who turned their hunger strike actions into a death fast, demanding an end to pressure on their arts. In this context, a daily hunger strike action was initiated to support the members of Grup Yorum.

 

The first name that started the hunger strike was the artist Pınar Aydınlar.

 

Aydınlar started her hunger strike with Helik Bölek, a member of the group, who has been on death fast for 247 days and has continued her hunger strike at the Resistance House in Sarıyer after her release.

 

Emphasizing that the revolutionary artists should be supported, Aydınlar said everyone must support Grup Yorum. Pınar Aydınlar spoke to MA.

 

'ARTISTS SUPPORTING THE OPPRESSED WITH THEIR NOTES'

 

Aydınlar, reminding that Bölek is on a death fast for 247 days and referring to the social and political crisis experienced in Turkey, said: "The situation of thousands of academics who were dismissed with law decrees is obvious. Again, the situation of those who commit suicide saying their children are hungry is out there as well. What they want to put Grup Yorum and the other revolutionary bands through who support the oppressed is out there too. Our friends who are on exile like Ferhat Tunç and our friends who are in prison are suffering because they are the voice of the oppressed."

 

'BE A DROP OF WATER IN THE OCEAN'

 

Aydınlar, stating : "We should not forget that every history creates its own resistance and its own surrenderers. Some worships power and some never make compromises in the great ocean of the people and try to be a drop of water in that ocean. We are trying our best to be a drop of water in this ocean. In this context I am calling on to everyone, especially my artist colleagues to be the voice of Grup Yorum in their resistance. Be a drop of water in this ocean."
