ANKARA - There is an intense interest in the 4th Great Ordinary Congress of HDP. People are waiting in line to enter the hall, which is already almost full. 30 thousand people are expected to attend the congress.
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) 4th Ordinary Congress will be held in Ankara Sports Hall (Arena). People start gathering in front of the hall since early this morning. 30 thousand people are expected to attend the great congress with 600 large buses.
As the congress hall is already filling up, lines are being formed at the entrances. It is getting harder to take a step in the area in front of the hall. While search continues at three different check points, items such as bags, power supplies and chargers were not allowed in the area.
Despite the police blockade at the enterance, people are flocking to the hall in an enthusiastic way. Women wearing yellow, red, green local clothes came from all around the country.
ATTANDANCE FROM 28 COUNTRIES
Guests from 28 different countries including Tunisia, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, Cyprus, Sweden, West Bank, France, Galicia, Germany, Australia, Lebanon, Greece, Basque, Egypt, Italy, Catalonia, Denmark, Norway, England, Scotland, Portugal, Finland, Switzerland, Spain, Armania and Iran are here to attend the congress.
More than 30 political party representatives and many women's organizations from the Middle East are attending the congress.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe United Left Group President Tiny Kox, President of the European Free Alliance Lorena Lopez de Lacalle, Deputy Secretary General of the European Socialists Party, Giacomo Filibeck, European Parliament Socialists and Democrats Group member Nikos Androulakis are among the guests attending the congress.
STRESS TO ISOLATION
Since the morning hours of the congress, reactions against the isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan have increased. Slogans were shouted in favor of Öcalan in the hall where the banner saying “End the isolation” was hung.
