DİYARBAKIR - Reyhan Yalçındağ, one of the lawyers of the Medeni Yıldırım murder case, stated that the fact that TRT, TÜBİTAK and ATK did not prepare reports even though the court demanded them is a 'scandal'.

In the case where Erdem Çiftçi is prosecuted for 'killing with eventual intent' for the murder of 19 year old Medeni Yıldırım who was killed in the Kalekol (Construction of a police station) protests as a result of the fire opened by the soldiers, no official institution could be found to resolve and report the images from the surveillence camera.

Diyarbakrı 7th High Criminal Court recieved negative responses from Turkey Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), Institute of Forensic Medicine (ATK) and Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBİTAK) which the court demanded audio analyzing and the images offsetting to be done.

TRT: WE DON'T HAVE AN EXPERT

TRT, which the court made the first request in this direction, responded in the letter it sent to the court last December that they did not have an expert qualified enough to examine the documents the court sent.

'WE DON'T HAVE ANALYSIS SERVICE'

The court then sent the documents to TUBITAK for an analysis but TUBİTAK said they did not have analysis service and suggested the court to apply to Forensic Medicine Institution, Forensic IT Specialization Department, Audio and Video Examination Branch and the Physics Specialization Department's Ballistics Branch instead.

ATK, which TÜBİTAK pointed out to have expert personnel and technical equipment, responded negatively to this demand of the court. However, ATK sent a second response to the court , saying they send the first response by mistake and they can only improve the sound quality.

Noting that the reports requested by TRT, TÜBİTAK and ATK for the Yıldırım case were rejected due to the lack of technological infrastructure and expertise, Yalçındağ commented that this was a scandal. Yalçındağ added: "As we have said from the beginning, there is an actual effort for the law enforcement to remain unpunished. It is not that they really care to reach the truth. They are trying to stall us to protect the law enforcement."
