Two imprisoned lawyers Ebru Timtik ve Aytaç Ünsal has turned their hunger strike, which they began on February 5, 2020, to death fast on April 5, 2020, on the Lawyers' Day. Two lawyers demand "the right of fair trial" with their death fast resistance. The family of Ebru Timtik declared a written statement regarding the health conditions of the two lawyers and called for support.

 

In the statement it was noted that "Without even taking their last statements Barkın Timtik was sentenced to 18 years 9 months of prison, Ebru timtik was sentenced to 13 years 6 months of prison and Aytaş Ünsal was sentenced to 10 years of prison. All the lawyers in the case were sentenced to 159 years of prison in total". 

 

The following information regarding the health condition of Ebru Timtik was shared: "We have learned that her health condition gets worse, she was hardly finishing up a sentence in her last lawyer visit and she has arthralgia. We also follow the situation in Silivri Prison with great concern, where the COVID-19 pandemic has been reported to be spreading, but no measures have been taken".

 

The statement, which noted that Ebru Timtik and Aytaç Ünsal were the lawyers of many social cases such as Soma and Ermenek mine massacres, the massacre of Çorlu Railway and Ali İsmail Korkmaz, Dilek Doğan ve Berkin Elvan trials as well, as they never looked for no material benefit or financial worries, included the following remarks: "Their crime is that they are in the side of the oppressed class, which is subjected to injustice. Ebru and Aytaç demand the Penal Department no. 16 of the Supreme Court to read and conclude their files as soon as possible. Our task today is to take care of our lawyers and to share their struggle for a fair trial. We can only make our children live if we embrace them and raise their voices."
