The destruction expands daily in Hasankeyf that has a history of 12 thousand years and will be submerged because of the Ilısu Dam. Zeynelbey Mausoleum, Artuklu Bathhouse and Imam Abdullah Hermitage have been moved. The transportation of Sultan Süleyman and El-Rızk Mosques are continuing. The castle walls are being cemented.
Director Ali Ergül who shows the struggle to save Hasankeyf in "Date of water's death", says there is far more damage beyond the pretense of transportation.Ergül said, " Hasankeyf and Dicle Valley can be saved. Must be saved. Otherwise we'll all be responsible for it."
Ergül, " There are two dimensions in this transportation situation.One is that the artwork being extracted from its natural environment. The other one is the fact that they are damaging the artwork while transporting them. Both cases has no legal explanation.
Ergül continued: "There are international conventions Turkey have signed. Turkey does not abide any of them in this project. A historical place is being destroyed while we retreat."
