URFA - Reacting to AKP's President Erdoğan who told that Turkey is a democracy and a state of law, Ferit Şenyaşar said: "We don't accept those words. Which rule of law principles can explain what we are going through?"
The Justice Watch carried out by the Şenyaşar family has reached day 429. The sit-in was launched on March 9, 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives in the Suruç province of Urfa, on June 14, 2018. Emine and Ferit Şenyaşar came to the Urfa Courthouse, 42 kilometers away from their house in Suruç and started the sit-in for the day. The family, who came to the Urfa Courthouse from their house in Suruç in the morning, informs those who enter the courthouse about the case.
Ferit Şenyaşar who emphasized that they have been demanding justice for 429 days, told that the whole country and all the peoples in it follows their struggle for justice. Reminding that AKP President Tayyip Erdoğan said in his speech at the Administrative Justice Day and the 154th Anniversary Ceremony of the Council of State yesterday, in which he said, "The rule of law is an indispensable condition of democracy," Şenyaşar said, "The head of the state talks about the rule of law and independent judiciary in his statements. We don't accept this. The people of Urfa do not accept these words. Law of the superiors is applied in Urfa Courthouse. A 66-year-old mother is sitting on the stairs of this courthouse for 429 days. Her only demand is the law to be applied."
'HOW DID THE PERPETRATORS WALK AROUND FREELY FOR 4 YEARS?'
Şenyaşar stated that only 4 people have been arrested in the 4 years since the massacre at the Suruç State Hospital and said: "Which rule of law will explain what we aregoing through? If they knew who the perpetrators were, how did they walk around freely in these four years? My brother is held unlawfully for 4 years alone in a cell. We want justice. We want this cruelty to end."
