DİYARBAKIR - Dicle Fırat Journalists Association Co-chair and editor of our agency Dicle, Müftüoğlu has been released.
Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) Co-chair and editor of our agency Dicle Müftüoğlu, who was detained on Friday and have been held under custody for 4 days, was released with judicial control measures.
Müftüoğlu, who was detained as a result of the investigation launched by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with the claim of "funding a terroist organisation" for depositing money into account of her colleagues, reporters Ziya Ataman and Nedim Türfent who were arrested while they were the reporters of Dicle News Agency (DİHA), was referred to Diyarbakır Courthouse in the morning.
Müftüoğlu, whose statement was taken by the Van Public Prosecutor's Office via Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS), was taken to the Van Penal Court of Peace on Duty , was referred to court with a request of judicial control measures. Making her defense against allegations, Müftüoğlu reminded that Nedim Türfent and Ziya Ataman were reporters at DİHA, where she worked as the Editor-in-Chief, and that they were later arrested and that she deposited money to her colleagues in solidarity.
Müftüoğlu's attorney, Resul Temur, noted that the money could not be considered as financing an organisation, but was deposited in solidarity with imprisoned journalists. Temur stated that the accusaiton on his client had no grounds and requested her release.
The court decided to apply judicial control measures and released Müftüoğlu.
