İSTANBUL- Stating that social isolation is symbolized in the person of Öcalan, Revolutionary Party Co-Chair Burcugül Çubuk said, “With this rally, we will be fighting for the future of the peoples.”
Having not heard from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under severe isolation conditions in İmralı F Type High Security Prison for more than a year, 6 institutions and political parties took action. A rally was organised on June 12, in Gemlik district of Bursa. People will be marching with the motto, "We are marching to Gemlik against the isolation policy'. Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Free Women's Movement (TJA), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and MED Federation of Legal and Solidarity Associations for Families of Prisoners and Convicts (MED TUHAD-FED) will depart from many cities of the region and Turkey for the march to be carried out.
Stating that they will destroy the perception of isolation with the march, Revolutionary Party Co-Chair Burcugül Çubuk stated that the march was for democracy and invited everyone to join the march.
'FIGHT AGAINST THE REGIME'
Stating that the severe isolation conditions on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan have spread to the whole society, especially the prisons, Çubuk said, “We are going through a period where everyone is imprisoned.” Emphasizing that the AKP and MHP are in a total aggression against all dissidents, Çubuk underlined that they will fight for everyone, especially Öcalan, who is exposed to isolation.
"We have to reject the isolation against the AKP and MHP fascism, which is trying to spread the isolation policy in all aspects of life," Çubuk said. If this government cannot defeat the revolutionary democratic force today, it is because of the Kurdish freedom movement and its organised people. An important point for us. The fight against Apartheid in South Africa did not take place without a fight against isolation. We think it is important to march to a place symbolising isolation."
'WE HAVE TO CRACK THE WALLS OF İMRALI'
Noting that the pressure and violence against the society intensified during the periods when communication with Öcalan was not established, Çubuk continued as follows: “For example, in the 'peace process' carried out between 2013 and 2015, the isolation was lifted a little bit. But now there is a war concept, the isolation is getting deeper. If we want a solution, if we want to live, if we want the peace of the peoples, if we want to fight against inflation and women's rights, we have to crack the walls of İmralı. This is why we are marching to Gemlik."
Pointing out that the government sees the isolation on Öcalan legitimate and has created a system in which it is forbidden to talk about Öcalan, Çubuk said, “This situation became very complicated recently. There is a widespread perception that the isolation is legitimate and talking about Öcalan is not. We need to work against it. We always say that it is our own line of legitimacy that determines us, not the limits of the system.”
'FOR THE FUTURE OF THE PEOPLE'
Stating that millions of Kurds see Öcalan's freedom as their own, Çubuk stated that they support the people's stance against isolation. Emphasizing that this action plan against isolation is a late action, Çubuk stated that they will participate in this march with all their strenth as an organisation. Finally, Çubuk made the following call to the people: “We want the people to join this march for the peace of the people, for democracy, to open the doors of the prisons for political prisoners. With this march, we will be fighting for our own future, for the future of the peoples."
